The Locals of the Western United States and Canada are meeting in San Diego, CA April 24-26, 2026. Local 709 is part of this conference.
This gives the delegates from each Local a chance to meet one another and set goals, legislative priorities, and give updates to issues affecting professional musicians across the Federation.
The topic of the triennial convention which is due to take place this June in Ottawa, Canada, along with officer reports of the Federation. The AFM is currently working on advancing legislation to allow musical performers an easier and less expensive way to cross the U.S.-Canada border. There has also been discussion on establishing a pathway for musicians who are otherwise not eligible to be covered by an employer-based healthcare plan, to be covered through an AFM self-funded plan. We hope to have updates on this by the summer of 2026. Stay tuned!
